Behind the Scenes workshop

The UK theatre scene is universally acknowledged as a leading innovator in theatre lighting and sound design, production models, audience development, professional capacity building, marketing, communications and management.

Initiated by the British Council, Behind the Scenes is a programme aimed at sharing the best of UK theatre practice, and forging links between UK and Ukrainian theatre professionals through a series of workshops, seminars, talks and residencies.

We kicked off the programme in Ukraine in 2012 by offering training in audience development led by UK marketing agency MORRIS HARGREAVES McINTYRE, and followed up with a programming and production workshop run by freelance producer Gary Hills and Executive Director of the Bristol Old Vic, Emma Stenning.

In 2013-14, together with Les Kurbas National Theatre Centre we organized a three-day course on lighting design with UK designer Michael Mannion, followed by a seminar on international touring and collaboration.
