The British Council in Kyiv is looking for hourly-paid Teachers of English to deliver quality English language teaching to a diverse audience of young learners and adults as part of the British Council Ukraine teaching team. Teachers will work on a freelance basis.

Role overview

Basic Requirements

All applicants should have CELTA as a basic qualification and at least 2 years’ experience teaching adults and children. In addition, you should have an undergraduate degree; and be proficient in English (minimum of CPE Pass / IELTS band 8)

NQT Programme

If you have CELTA, but don’t yet have 2 years’ experience teaching adults and children, you may apply as a Newly Qualified Teacher. NQT’s complete a year-long programme with a personal DELTA-qualified mentor. You will also do an initial 12-week Global Young Learner course that will equip you with the skills you need to teach young learners.

What to Expect

Saturday or Sunday

We will need you to commit to working on either a Saturday or a Sunday as we operate 7 days. In addition, you can expect classes throughout the week, dependent on your availability.  

Young Learner Focus

With growing numbers of young learners our growing market, a desire to teach Primary and Secondary age students is a must. There is also an opportunity to teach adults on weekday evenings.

Cover slots

We would also require that you accept at least two paid cover slots each week.

Partnership Premises

It is possible that we will ask you to teach in one of our partnership premises as well as our main centre.
