Booking the Future is a series of events aimed at professional development of publishing industry specialists and at promoting cooperation between the Ukrainian and European publishing sectors.
During 30 May - 3 June in Mystetskyi Arsenal nine leading lights from European publishing sector from the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland and the UK will share insights into and innovations for the promotion and distribution of publications, will debate global publishing trends and will offer forecasts for the development of the publishing sector.
Presentations will cover the following themes or “perspectives”:
- A perspective on the modern reader in relation to innovative forms of marketing and new technologies.
- A perspective on the European book market, market for e-publishing and how it integrates into book industry strategies, including the experiences of successful publishers of the intellectual literature and the promotion of “small” literaturеs.
- A perspective on the future of national literatures and their globalisation, on cultural politics and book publishing, and on the transforming role of major book events.

The opportunity to meet with these European publishing representatives is open to Ukrainian publishers, students of publishing, those working in book marketing, start-up book enterprises, literary event organisers, and publishing institutions.
Between 9 and 13 July 2018, Booking the Future will continue as a summer school for representatives of the Ukrainian publishing industry in partnership with Mystetskyi Arsenal’s Literature Laboratory.
Key issues to be considered during the summer school include marketing and distribution, the role of literary agencies and how to promote authors in the international market, publishing houses’ and authors’ image, and book design as an aspect of marketing.
