On 30 September 2018, the European Day of Languages will be celebrated at the premises of the British Council and the Goethe-Institut in Kyiv.

Every year since 2001 the European Day of Languages has been celebrated on the initiative of the Council of Europe to promote multilingualism in Europe. Linguistic diversity is an instrument for achieving greater intercultural understanding and a key component of the rich cultural heritage of our continent. It is why 800 million Europeans are encouraged to learn more languages at any age.

In Ukraine, the European Day of Languages celebration is organized by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) and funded by the EU Culture Bridges program, implemented by the British Council. The following institutes have partnered to support the European Day of Languages 2018: the British Council Ukraine, the Goethe-Institut Ukraine, the French Institute in Ukraine, the Italian Cultural Institute in Ukraine, the Polish Institute in Kyiv, the Embassy of Hungary in Ukraine, and the Czech Centre in Ukraine.

In the library you will have the opportunity to dive into the world of books and fairy tales, as well as into the virtual world using the latest technology.

In the courtyard you will be able to make real marzipan, take part in table football and table tennis tournaments, play twister and follow the tracks of famous European poets. In addition, you can enjoy 'SpeakDating' (meeting through languages), a multilingual Zumba flash mob, face painting and printing designs on eco-bags. Once you have tried your skills in the contests and quizzes, you can take part in (or watch!) dance master classes, enjoy national delicacies and beverages from different European countries, listen to popular European music and win valuable prizes!
