Candoco Dance Company visits Kyiv for the first time on 27 April. The British Council in Ukraine presents a world-famous professional dance company that integrates disabled and non-disabled dancers.
On April, 27 Candoco is going to perform at the ZELYONKA-FEST 1.4 and will conduct a workshop: April, 27 – two general workshops (prior registration required) and April, 28 – a 6-hour workshop for disabled dancers and non-disabled dancers.
Candoco is a company of people fascinated by contemporary dance. It was founded more than 20 years ago in 1991 and grew quickly into the first company of its kind in the UK. The founders Celeste Dandeker and Adam Benjamin say their mission is to show the world the great opportunities of contemporary dance and its creators.
It’s a professional dance company in the UK focused on the integration of disabled and non-disabled dancers. Wherever Candoco performs, the company gives workshops for choreographers how to work with disabled dancers along with professional dancers.
The company won much acclaim from the press, public and from colleagues in the worlds of dance and education and between 1991 and 2005 the company toured to over 50 countries, visiting Europe, Australia, North and South America, Asia and Africa.
In 2013 Celeste Dandeker was awarded with the special diploma of National Council on civil rights for long-term asset activity for the Protection of Rights and Freedoms.
