On December 13 at 8:00 pm, eccentric British crowd favourites Everything Everything will gig at Kyiv’s Sentrum Club. The event should prove a brilliant finale to the British Council and Selector 2015 contemporary music concert series calendar.
The Manchester, England quartet has three studio albums to its credit with its 2010 debut “Man Alive” cracking the British Top 20 and grabbing a Mercury Prize nomination. The band followed this up with a Sound Producers’ Guild Award for best single for “Kemosabe”, from “Arc” - their second album. But it was unquestionably their third, and most eclectic, disc "Get To Heaven" with which Everything Everything stole the show at the mammoth Glastonbury Festival.
Combining complex rhythms, unorthodox arrangements and instrumentation, and the piercing falsetto of leadman the band switches seamlessly between both styles and subject matter drawn from stories trending in the endless cycles of news and social networks.
Their tech-savvy, lively sound lends itself to constant experimentation with form, creating its own syntax, simultaneously challenging and flirting with the public, and making its unconventional mark on England’s music tradition. Music critics forecast that few bands releasing albums in 2015 will resonate quite the way this one has.
"A hit album of astounding depth. As if the term “pop art” had been coined exclusively for them”, says Comma, the Ukrainian online music journal.
Tickets for Everything Everything at the Selector Live: 250 UAH.
