London grime artist Yizzy will headline the RAP.UA Showcase on 20 September 2019. The show will be held at Art-Zavod Mekhanika in Kharkiv, with the support of the British Council’s Selector Live project.
About Yizzy
Yizzy is the next gen of Grime. Pushing the genre past its self-imposed boundaries while nodding to its roots, the Lewisham MC is running the baton for the scene’s new wave - armed with quick wit, intelligence and powerful bars.
Wrapping his tight, teeth-gritting flow and memorable hooks around gold standard grime production, his live mic skills and ability have earned him co-signs from the genre’s biggest names including Ghetts, Dizzee, Wiley, and Devlin.
He’s been featured recently by The FADER, Complex, Notion, Trench, SBTV, RWD, Red Bull, 1Xtra, Charlie Sloth’s Fire In The Booth and the NME 100, whilst Spotify made him the cover of their flagship Grime Shutdown playlist, and Apple Music and Deezer added him to their Best Of The Week and Brand New UK playlists respectively in June around his new project ‘Welcome To Grime Street’ this year.
Initially hailed by Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent Contest and BBC Introducing, Yizzy has built on these early achievements, performing alongside grime royalty at Printworks’ Eskimo Dance, featuring on the ninth edition of Lord Of The Mics - plus his own headline show at Islington Academy 2 followed by festival sets at Field Day and Parklife.
