The headliner of the first Lviv showcase Rap.ua, which will be held in conjunction with the formation of Night Ambassadors, is the star of the British stage D Double E. The artist is appearing in connection with the British Council’s Selector Live project.
A resident of London’s East End, D Double E has long been a central figure in the urban music scene in both the UK and worldwide. His work has been covered by The Guardian, BBC and Vice, also garnering broad street cred in the Grime scene where he is viewed as deeply influential.
A list of prominent Grime artists who’ve worked with D Double E includes Skepta, Wiley, Stormzy, Kano, and scores of others. But to get acquainted with the work of this charismatic London-based performer, it would be quicker to check out his videography.
Net favourites from his Konnichiwa disc include Ladies Hit Squad, featuring Skepta, who also appeared on the album tour. In Better Than the Rest, D Double E and Wiley take listeners on a tour of London’s wild “Ends”, those areas of the city where tourists fear to tread and, not coincidentally, the part of town where Grime was born. Finally, the artist pokes gentle fun in his Fresh N Clean video produced in connection with Swedish Corporate monolith IKEA. If that’s not enough, check out the teaser from Adidas and Palace and discover that D Double E really is everywhere.
Line-up: D Double E (live), Alex Pervukhin, Тиск (live), Nemo322 (live), FAT8, Lstn, Neütral b2b Offmean
