The British Council and the Selector Radio programme continue their outstanding concert series with another rising star from the contemporary British music scene: next to appear at Kyiv’s Sentrum Club - the wild punk band Slaves – one of the UK’s hottest acts.

The punk duo features Isaac Holman on drums and vocals and Laurie Vincent on guitar, bass and vocals. Don’t let their size fool you – on stage, Slaves bring every kilowatt of the hard edge and uncompromising wail that is British Punk.
Slaves were nominated for the BBC’s “Sound of 2015”, their studio debut “Are You Satisfied?” having cracked the Top 10 in the British Charts.
The band has been blowing away the American club circuit and international festivals, including crowds in Britain - Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds, T in the Park; Germany – Rock am Ring, Rock im Park; France - Les Eurockéennes; the Netherlands – Lowlands; and Japan – Summer Sonic.
Slaves will head out on their first European solo tour this autumn – a tour which includes Kyiv, offering Ukrainians a chance to see this widely acclaimed band on their way up.

The Selector Live concert series is organised by the British Council Ukraine and the Sentrum Club in support of The Selector programme, and introduces the Ukrainian listening audience to the great breadth and diversity of British music – everything from guitar-driven indie rock to “intelligent” electronic music.
The first concert - July 7, 2015 - featured the winner of the 2014 Mercury Prize – Scottish hip-hoppers Young Fathers. They will be followed up with the second in the Selector Live series – the fluid vocal stylings of Obaro Ejimiwe, better known by his stage-name, Ghostpoet. The concert is set for September 24.
The Selector can be found every Wednesday and Sunday at 8:00 p.m. on Prosto Radio, with encore performances at 8:00 p.m. every Thursday and Saturday on Aristocrats.fm. Valeria Chachibaya is both producer and host of the Ukrainian Selector.
