Arts workshop Drabyna in partnership with the British Council invite you to the fourth edition of new drama festival Drama.UA. The audience of the event will take part in process of creating and discussing the newest forms of theatre together with well-known playwrights, directors, and critics.

As part of Drama.UA the British Council presents several art events:

Readings of new UK drama

- On Saturday, November 23rd at 16.00 a reading of That Face by Polly Stenham will take place at the First Ukrainian theatre for Children and Youth (11 Gnatiuka str.)

Mia is at boarding school and has access to her mother's drugs. She gets into trouble for drugging a fellow student and this causes her father to be brought back to England from Hong Kong. Henry, her brother, has dropped out of school and has to stay at home and look after his alcoholic mother. Martha, their fading glamorous mother, controls their lives whilst her own sick mind and world crumble around her.

- On Sunday, November 24th at 19.00 a reading of Pool (No water) by Mark Ravenhill will take place at the spiritual theatre Voskresinnya (5 Grygorenko square)

A famous artist invites her old friends to her luxurious new home. For one night only, the group is back together. But celebrations come to an abrupt end when the host suffers an horrific accident. As the victim lies in a coma, an almost unthinkable plan starts to take shape: could her suffering be their next work of art? The group is ecstatic in its new found project until things slip out of their control. To the surprise of all, the patient awakes...

A theatre workshop of recognized British-Dutch director Jan Willem van der Bosch

21-24 November, 10.00 -16.00, Lviv Oblast Universal Scientific Library, 13 Shevchenko ave.

The four days' seminar will join together actors, directors, playwrights, media artists and curators. By means of interactive thoughts exchange they will create new theatre product.

The workshop will focus on: modern theatre techniques and practices, namely new media and devised theatre, as well as specifics of new drama (staging of Martin McDonagh, Caryl Churchill , Nick Payne plays at the Royal Court theatre, London) and ways of re-thinking classics using new media instruments (Woyzeck by Georg Buchner, The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov), verbatim (Anna Deavere Smith's docu-play Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992), new media theatre, etc.
