In April around 150 participants carried self-made lanterns up Andriyiivsky Uzviz in Kyiv city centre to mark the 80th anniversary of the British Council. During the week Young Learners and teachers created lanterns with help of Helen Davies (Walk the plank), who has come from the UK to work on this project.
Lanterns carry light into dark places, and participation in cultural activity can offer opportunities for dialogue, create connections between people, enhance wellbeing, and celebrate events of great significance, commented Liz Pugh, art consultant to the British Council in Ukraine, who produced the event.
