With a line-up featuring British awards favourites, festival hits and the awardees of the Сannes Film Festival the British Council and Arthouse Traffic are pleased to announce this year’s New British Film Festival. With the Zhovten Сinema serving as its principal venue the festival runs from 28 November to 4 December.
The guest of honour at the NBFF 2019 will be director Agnieszka Holland, Academy Award nominee, director and screenwriter of cult films and series. She will personally present the opening film of the festival, her new work – drama “Mr. Jones”. The joint production of the UK, Ukraine and Poland tells the story of Welsh reporter Gareth Jones, who first declared the Ukrainian Holodomor in the Western press. Starring James Norton (War and Peace) and Vanessa Kirby (Crown), Mr. Jones became the first co-production film of Ukraine and the UK.
This year NBFF 2019 is offering even greater public accessibility with two films produced with TIFF transcription (translated video for people with visual impairment) – “Mr. Jones” and “Sorry, We Missed You”.
