British Council Ukraine is inviting young researchers/university lecturers/PhD students from Lviv and other regions of western Ukraine to take part in a programme «Researcher Connect» aimed at supporting professional development of early career researchers. The programme was successfully launched in Kyiv and Vinnytsia in 2015, workshops were also conducted in Kharkiv and Poltava in spring 2016. We are pleased to announce that the workshops are coming to Lviv in November 2016.
Researcher Connect offers a series of modules that focus on the development of skills that are essential for successful international communication and collaboration. It provides participants with the insights, understanding and tools to communicate effectively, whatever the situation or context. Writing persuasive proposals is crucial for preparing submissions for the programme Horizon 2020.
Researcher Connect modules are delivered as three full day workshops by experienced and quality-assured trainers. The workshop programme will focus on core academic skills.
Please note that we are delivering two identical workshops in Lviv on the following dates:
Lviv, 3-5 November Lviv Polytechnic National University
Lviv, 7-9 November Ivan Franko National University of Lviv
Outline of the programme:
Day 1 |
Foundation Module (Know Your Audience, ensuring effective targeted communication); Abstracts (essential structural elements of abstracts for different audiences and needs) |
Day 2 |
Persuasive Proposals Module (writing clear, concise and winning proposals) |
Day 3 |
Presenting with Impact Module (step-by-step developing, delivering and critiquing presentation) |
Eligibility criteria for the programme participants:
1. Early career researchers up to 35 years of age
2. English language competence level B-2 or above. It can be confirmed by an international certificate (IELTS/Cambridge/TOEFL), or otherwise it will be tested by the British Council
3. A job position at a research institute, university or other state or non-state scientific organisation
4. International experience (research projects, scientific publications, international connections)
5. Once your participation in the programme has been confirmed, you will be required to present a letter of support from your institution/employer.
