As part of our film programme, we have been working with Molodist KIFF for the several years, supporting its programme, promoting exchanges with other UK festivals, and bringing British filmmakers and producers to participate in Molodist OIFF’s various events.
This year, as part of our Shakespeare 400 years’ anniversary, the British Council and the British Film Institute (BFI) are promoting the largest-ever programme of films based on Shakespeare’s plays around the world.
Shakespeare on Film is a BFI curated programme of around 20 feature films showing how British cinema has transformed and reimagined Shakespeare’s work. The programme is part of the global Shakespeare Lives campaign developed by the British Council and the GREAT Britain campaign. In 2016 Shakespeare on Film will go on tour to over 100 countries around the world.
We invite you to watch5 Shakespeare screen classics: Molodist KIFF is adding Akira Kurosawa’s Ran (based on Shakespeare’s King Lear) to the programme. For a detailed schedule of films and information on venues please check the festival’s programme. Molodist KIFF 2016 will take place on 22-30 October.
