UK contemporary drama stage readings
Theatre-readings-DS-UA

Annually, British Council Ukraine supports the translation of three or four contemporary, dramatic texts from English into Ukrainian. Working with top Ukrainian translators, the texts are then put to the test in stage readings by Ukrainian theatre directors and actors.

We also work closely with local new writing projects like Tyzhden' Aktualnoi P'esy (A Week of Contemporary Plays), the Drama.UA Festival and the Les Kurbas National Theatre Centre to bring important, innovative and inspiring drama from the UK to Ukrainian audiences.

Through British Council support, the following texts by UK writers are now available in Ukrainian:

Martin McDonagh Cripple of Inishmaan translated by Viktor Morozov, edited by Pavlo Yurov.
Beauty Queen from Leenane translated by Oleksa Nehrebetsky.
