The forum was the first in a series of activities within a new three-year programme aimed at improving the quality of teaching in higher education in Ukraine. During the forum, participants got acquainted with the best British and Ukrainian practices, discussed what universities need to improve teaching excellence and how the national policy will facilitate this process.
The purpose of the forum is to launch a national platform for professional discussion and exchange of best practices on improving teaching excellence in higher education.
Key forum themes:
- teaching Excellence as a priority for the European Higher Education Area;
- professional development of higher education teachers in Ukraine: status and needs;
- presentation of the UK experience on improving teaching excellence in higher education;
- presentation of the experience of universities in Ukraine on the professional development of teachers.
During the forum, the British Council presented a new Programme aimed at developing teaching and learning excellence in higher education in Ukraine. The British Council will be implementing the Programme during 2019 – 2022 in partnership with the Institute of Higher Education of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine and Advance HE (UK) with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance.
Rectors, vice-rectors, heads of departments, leading scientific and pedagogical staff of higher education institutions and experts who are actively involved in the process of improving the teaching excellence and professional development of university teachers participated in the forum.
