The British Council within Active Citizens programme is supporting climate change-focused Social Action Projects (SAPs), to contribute The 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26), that will be held in Glasgow, UK, on 1 to 12 November 2021.

We are supporting climate change-focused SAPs. The applicant should be an Active Citizens local training alumni and apply through Active Citizens partner organization in Ukraine.

The SAPs will focus on the following COP26 priority areas:
• Adaptation and resilience. ‘Helping people, economies and the environment adapt and prepare for the impacts of climate change.’
• Nature. ‘Safeguarding ecosystems, protecting natural habitats and keeping carbon out of the atmosphere.’

The maximum amount that can be supported per SAP by the British Council is 30,000 UAH.

Granting procedure

The application should be submitted before 23:59 on 8 February, 2021.
The application will be evaluated by the British Council representatives.
The results will be announced not later than 22 February, 2021.
The awarded SAPs will be funded through Active Citizens Ukraine partner organizations.
90% of grant amount will be paid in February, 2021.
The financial and narrative report should be submitted to the British Council not later than June 30, 2021.
10% will be paid upon successful project delivery and reporting. 

Project requirements and budget restrictions

1. The maximum amount that can be supported per SAP by the British Council is 30,000 UAH.

2. On top of this, each Active Citizens partner organization  can plan up to 3,000 UAH per SAP for the administration costs (accounting, post services etc) 

3. If the implementation of the SAP requires the consent of the local council / public organization / residents of the house, etc., applicants must provide a letter of support together with the completed application form. 

4. The grant can cover:

  • building materials;
  • software for online-events;
  • local travel;
  • professional services; 
  • the equipment needed to complete the project;
  • dissemination of information;
  • other costs directly related to the project implementation.

5.The grant cannot cover:

  • salary of the project manager;
  • purchasing of office equipment (for example, a laptop, projector, printer, etc.);
  • office rental costs, current organizational costs (for example, top up of mobile accounts, payment for ISPs, etc.);
  • Software that has low security standards (Zoom, Tilda, etc);
  • language learning;
  • salaries of civil servants;
  • projects that have a commercial purpose. 

6. The social action project manager must be over 18 years of age.
