10 years of Active Citizens programme!
Worldwide Active Citizens was launched in 2009 and has run in over 68 countries in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, South and East Asia, North and South America.
This year we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the project implementation!
During this time more than 9300 social action projects were launched around the world.
5 years in Ukraine!
In Ukraine the “Active Citizens” project has worked since 2014, more than 1050 social action projects have been supported during this period. These are projects about community development, inclusion, safe, art, non-formal education, intercultural dialogue etc. We invite the authors of the projects to tell their projects’ success stories!
What is this competition?
This competition gives an opportunity to tell the story of your project success and to inspire others! The competition will take place in three stages:
Stage 1 - Technical selection of applications by the experts
Stage 2 - Public online voting and selection of 10 finalists
Final - presentation of the 10 best projects at the Active Citizens Festival on June 20-23 in the Volyn region* and pitching for additional funding 30 000 UAH.
* The British Council will cover all expenses for participation of 2 representatives from the project

What projects can participate in the competition?
We encourage to take part social action projects, which show positive impact on social changes in the community, promote intercultural dialogue in communities, involved different social groups into the project, are sustained initiatives and help to achieve sustainable development goals.
Technical requirements to the projects:
1. The project must be supported by Active Citizens programme after January 1, 2017. Projects can be funded within social action projects waves or pitchings.
2. The project must be fully implemented by March 31, 2019. The "fully implemented" means that all activities under the social action project have been implemented, narrative and financial reports have been provided.

The deadline for applications is May 22, 2019, 23:59.
Within the framework of the competition, 10 best projects will be selected. Representatives of the winning teams will be invited to take part in the Festival of Active Communities and will be able to present their project. The Active Communities Festival will be held on June 20-23 in Volyn Oblast (the British Council will cover all expenses for participation of 2 representatives from the project). The teams of these projects will also receive branded belt bags, thermal mugs, eco-bags and sweatshirts.
