The British Council in Ukraine is delighted to invite teachers of English to join the second cohort of the professional development course English and New Competencies for Ukrainian Reformed School Education (ENCOURSE), which begins in April 2025.

The primary focus of ENCOURSE is to introduce teachers who work in the New Ukrainian School reform framework to approaches and tools for developing learners’ mediation competencies in line with the National standard for upper secondary school education.

The course will start in April 2025 and will be running for four weeks. Teachers will engage with their trainers in group sessions once a week — online, in person, or a blended format. Participants will be required to apply the practical tasks in their classrooms, followed by individual or group reflections on a weekly basis.

In February 2025, nearly 300 English teachers from 20 regions of Ukraine joined ENCOURSE. As part of the programme, we have trained 76 trainers, and in November 2024, we successfully launched the pilot course.  The first teachers to master the new approaches and tools were those from schools in Vinnytsia and Dnipro.

Join us if you require this opportunity for professional development to work with learners of New Ukrainian Upper Secondary School.

The deadline for applications is 15 March 2025.

ENCOURSE aims to address the need for professional development support for upper secondary school teachers. The professional development course, aligned with the new Ukrainian national standards, provides valuable insights and opportunities for practicing mediation skills. It was developed with the expertise of leading UK professionals in English language teaching and input from the Ukrainian context.
