The British Council in Ukraine is delighted to invite English teachers to the professional development course English and New Competencies for Ukrainian Reformed School Education (ENCOURSE), which begins in early February 2025.

The primary focus of ENCOURSE is to introduce teachers of the New Ukrainian School reform to approaches and tools for developing learners’ mediation competencies in line with the National standard for upper secondary school education.

As part of the programme ENCOURSE, we have trained 76 course trainers, and in November 2024, we successfully piloted the course in Ukraine. The pilot course was introduced to school teachers in Vinnytsia and Dnipro, who were the first to explore the innovative approaches and tools. And now we are ready to welcome new participants.

The course will start in early February and run for four weeks. Teachers will engage with their trainers in group sessions once a week — online, in person, or in a blended format. Participants will be required to apply the practical tasks in their classrooms, followed by individual or group reflections on a weekly basis.

Join us if you feel you require this opportunity of professional development to work with learners of New Ukrainian Upper Secondary School.

The deadline for applications is 26 January 2025.

ENCOURSE aims to address the need for professional development support for upper secondary school teachers. The professional development course, aligned with the new Ukrainian national standards, provides valuable insights and opportunities for practicing mediation skills. It was developed with the expertise of leading UK professionals in English language teaching and input from the Ukrainian context.
